My 41st Birthday
My 41st Birthday, another lap around the block. Can you tell i’m easing into my 40’s buy using silly sayings like that that are equivalent to Dad jokes. I know I’m always feeling old when I carry around my backpack full of camera and video gear. I’ve never weighed it but I am sure I am doing the equivalent of a daily work out on days I have to lug it all around on my back. Lately when I am out and about on photoshoots I am starting to be a lot more thoughtful about what I bring on my person. It’s nice to have any piece of camera gear you need on your back but not when your walking miles and navigating dangerous rocks near white water rapids on the Chattahoochee River. That’s why I have started to embrace sling and crossbody bags that just have a few essentials. I keep my backpack in my vehicle and try to plan shoots that make it convenient to make it back to my vehicle to grab whatever I need if I do need to get something. I actually have a Peak Design Travel Photography Backpack that allows me to use their cube system to carry everything more efficiently. With the two exterior tie down straps I can just take out one of my camera cubes from my bag and hook one of them to it and carry it as a much smaller carrying option . If you have never checked out Peak Designs bags you don’t know what you are missing. They make some of the nicest and durable bags for photographers and videographers as well as travel enthusiast. In my opinion they also have the best looking bags out of all the other companies.
Check out the bag setup that I use.
Things I am focusing on lately and over the next year of my life are to keep growing my photography business while keeping a balanced life. With each year that goes by I see myself needing to schedule time for myself or else I will continuously be working on my business from sunrise to sunset, LITERALLY.
